Provided are: a metal resin composite body which has high bonding strength (metal bonding strength) between a metal member and a thermoplastic resin member, while exhibiting excellent plating properties; a resin composition which is used for the formation of this metal resin composite body; and a method for producing a metal resin composite body. A metal resin composite body which comprises a metal member having a surface that is provided with recesses and projections and a thermoplastic resin member that is in contact with the surface, which is provided with recesses and projections, of the metal member. This metal resin composite body is formed from a resin composition which contains 1-25 parts by mass of a laser direct structuring additive (B) relative to 100 parts by mass of a thermoplastic resin that contains 50% by mass or more of the crystalline thermoplastic resin.
