A metal roofing material according to the present invention is adapted to be disposed on a roofing base such that the width direction thereof extends in the eaves direction of a roof and the depth direction thereof extends in the ridge-eaves direction of the roof and to be disposed so as to overlap a metal roofing material on the eaves side in the ridge-eaves direction of the roof. The metal roofing material includes a surface base material formed of a metal plate, a top plate provided on the surface base material, and a plurality of projecting portions 7 formed on the top plate and extending linearly in the depth direction so as to be parallel to one another, wherein the plurality of projecting portions 7 include at least two types of projecting portions 71, 72, and the magnitude of the residual stress remaining in bent shoulder portions of at least one type of the projecting portions 71 is different from the magnitude of the residual stress remaining in bent shoulder portions of the other type of the projecting portions 72.
