A metal sheet coated with polyester resins, characterized in that the polyester resins have an intrinsic viscosity of 0.6 to 1.4 and are not orientated, the surface of the metal sheet corresponding to the inside surface of a can to be manufactured from the metal sheet is coated with two resin layers, wherein an upper layer polyester resin has a melting temperature higher than that of a lower layer resin, and the surface of the metal sheet corresponding to the outside surface of the can is coated with three resin layers, wherein uppermost layer and core layer polyester resins have a melting temperature higher than that of a lowermost layer resin and uppermost layer and lowermost layer resins have a lower content of a white pigment than that of a core layer resin; and a can using the metal sheet. The metal sheet coated with polyester resins is free from the occurrence of cracking or breakage even when it is subjected to a severe working for forming such as the deep drawing into a thin wall, and is excellent in workability and corrosion resistance; and a can using the metal sheet is excellent in the retention of flavor characteristics of the contents thereof.
