A metallic catalyst support (1) which comprises a honeycomb structure (2) formed by superposing an end of a wavy metal foil (4) on an end of a flat metal foil (5) and winding the two foils so as to make multiple laps. The honeycomb structure (2) includes a roll core section (7), part of which has been deformed so as to constitute a control section (8) which controls the flow of an exhaust gas through the roll core section (7).
