Abstract:
Disclosed is a metallic glass fastening screw which gives the property that are not susceptible to loosening to the screw itself, and implements fastening with high strength and high reliability in a wide range of areas including a lightweight member. Bulk metallic glass consisting of amorphous is formed by component rolling at the glass transition temperature of the bulk metallic glass serving as a member to be processed or lower during the processing of the screw thread and screw groove. The bulk metallic glass has the property that a plastic strain is induced by plastic forming such as the component rolling to improve the ductility in a section including a slip band. By using the property effectively to reduce the stress concentration of the tensile stress generated in the area of the bottom of the screw groove by the tension (axial force) acting on the screw at the time of the fastening, when the depth from the bottom of the screw groove in the area where the plastic strain is induced by the component rolling is d, and the outside diameter of the screw is D, the relation is set to d > 0.022 × D.
