Abstract:
Provided is a (meth)acrylic acid copolymer capable of manifesting an excellent effect on the dispersion of hydrophobic particles, the (meth)acrylic acid copolymer containing structural units derived from a sulfonic acid (sulfonate) group-containing monomer and structural units derived from (meth)acrylic acid ((meth)acrylate) as structural units. Also provided is a method for producing such a (meth)acrylic acid copolymer. This (meth)acrylic acid copolymer contains 1-20 mass% of structural units (a) derived from an ether bond-containing hydrophobic monomer (A) represented by a specific structure, 1-50 mass% of structural units (b) derived from a sulfonic acid (sulfonate) group-containing monomer (B) represented by a specific structure, and 30-98 mass% of structural units (c) derived from (meth)acrylic acid ((meth)acrylate) (C).
