Abstract:
Disclosed is a methane fermentation method capable of breaking down organic waste having a high concentration of fats with a high saturated fatty acid content ratio efficiently in a short time. Organic waste containing fats is introduced into a methane fermentation tank and undergoes methane fermentation treatment. Fermented liquid is removed from the methane fermentation tank in prescribed amounts, and sludge sediment liquid that increases as the sludge concentration is pulled downward by a gravity sedimentation means is formed. At least part of the highly concentrated sludge liquid is returned to the methane fermentation tank, and at least part of the low concentration sludge liquid is extracted to the outside of the system. In this fermentation method, the highly concentrated sludge liquid is mixed with the organic waste and heated to the melting point of the fats contained therein or higher. After the fats have dispersed, methane fermentation treatment is performed such that an input load of 0.2 g/L/day for the saturated fatty acids in the fats is introduced into the methane fermentation.
