Abstract:
A method of 3D printing a metal workpiece using a laser and a system thereof. The method comprises the following steps: step 1, performing 3D sintering on metal powder using a continuous laser or pulsed laser; step 2, performing a laser shock process of laser induced shock waves on the 3D-sintered component using a short-pulse-width laser; step 3, performing a polishing process on the 3D-sintered component using the continuous laser or pulsed laser. When an object to be printed comprises different powder materials, suitable parameters such as wavelength, pulse-width and pulse energy of the laser are selected according to the optical characteristics of each powder material and the above three steps are applied to achieve 3D printing of a functionally graded object. The level of sintering of a laser is controlled by changing the pulse-width of a laser in the process of printing a metal workpiece, and thus the phenomena such as high porosity, overburn and spheroidizing during the printing process of a metal workpiece can be improved and the density of the metal workpiece is increased.
