A method for adding water in vessel lightering: under the premise that the bow of a vessel is not loaded with ballast water, the vessel is lightered onto a semisubmersible barge; the semisubmersible barge is moved to a deep pit and the vessel is driven to dive to two draught depths until the semisubmersible barge dives to the point of separation from the vessel; whenever the vessel dives to one draught depth, a submersible pump of the semisubmersible barge loads ballast water of a volume corresponding to the draught depth into a ballast tank at the bow of the vessel; and when the semisubmersible barge dives to the point of separation from the vessel, the vessel is towed out of the semisubmersible barge. When the semisubmersible barge cannot implement vessel lightering with fully loaded ballast water, by lightering the vessel not loaded with ballast water directly onto the semisubmersible barge, then when the vessel is driven by the semisubmersible barge to dive to a certain depth and the weight of the vessel is shared by utilizing the buoyancy of water, ballast water is then loaded into the ballast tank at the bow of the vessel until the semisubmersible barge dives to the point of separation from the vessel, the need for changing to a relatively small semisubmersible barge is obviated for implementing vessel launching.
