Abstract:
Provided is a new method for adjusting the diameter of a tool for a machine tool, this new method being different from conventional automatic adjustment methods and capable of automatically adjusting the diameter of a tool. Also provided is a machine tool therefor. By way of an abutting process, a mobile body (52) is made to slide with respect to a housing (51) so that the location of a cutting tool (70) is at a predetermined position in a direction moving away from a rotation shaft line, with the result that a reference section (52c) of the mobile body (52) is made to abut a position adjustment reference member (83). Subsequently, by way of an adjustment process, a drive means for positioning a main shaft block (102) with respect to a workpiece when machining the same with the cutting tool (70) subsequent to the abutting process, is used to change the relative positions between a main shaft (2) and the position adjustment reference member (83) in such a way that the main shaft (2) and the position adjustment reference member (83) come close to each other, with the result that the position of the cutting tool (70) with respect to the rotation shaft line is adjusted.
