Abstract:
Provided is a method capable of expressing and activating the function of a G-protein conjugated receptor (GPCR). A method for expressing a GPCR polypeptide comprises expressing, in a cell, a GPCR polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence obtained by modifying at least one of amino acid residues different from a consensus amino acid sequence in the amino acid sequence of a target GPCR (excluding an olfactory receptor) with an amino acid residue in the consensus amino acid sequence at a position corresponding to that described above, wherein said consensus amino acid sequence is an amino acid sequence derived from the alignment of the amino acid sequence of the target GPCR and the amino acid sequence of the GPCR encoded by the ortholog of the target GPCR in a vertebrate.
