Abstract:
A method of coating a titanium layer, including: preparing a titanium hydride (TiHx) powder; generating titanium that is molten while hydrogen is decomposed from titanium hydride, by forming spray of the titanium hydride (TiHx) powder by using an arc heat source or a plasma heat source in the air; and coating molten titanium on a base material, wherein, in titanium hydride (TiHx), a ratio x of hydrogen (H) with respect to titanium (Ti) is 0.5 to 2. Since titanium hydride (TiHx) is thermodynamically stable, the quantity of an impurity contained in the titanium layer coated on the base material is greatly reduced. Thus, the quality of coating the titanium layer is improved. Also, a possibility that titanium contained in titanium hydride (TiHx) and oxygen in the air may cause an explosion reaction, is greatly reduced.
