Abstract:
A method and apparatus for communication by means of a virtual client identification module, used to provide a means for a device to communicate without needing a SIM card. The method comprises: a first device receiving a virtual client identification module data packet sent by a second device by means of a short distance communication protocol, the virtual client identification module data packet carrying a virtual user identifier, and the virtual user identifier being used for uniquely identifying a user using the first device when the first device communicates over a network provided by a mobile communications operator; the first device acquiring the virtual user identifier by means of the virtual client identification module data packet; and the first device communicating with a different device over the network provided by the mobile communications operator by means of the virtual user identifier.
