Provided in the present application are a method and apparatus for controlling a light display device, which light display device is arranged in a vehicle cabin. The method comprises: acquiring user position information, wherein the user position information is used for indicating the position of a user around a vehicle or the position of the user in a vehicle cabin; and according to the user position information, controlling a light display device at a first position to perform light display, and/or controlling the light display device to perform light display in a first area, wherein the first position is disposed in the vehicle cabin and corresponds to the position of the user in the vehicle cabin, and the first area corresponds to the position of the user in the vehicle cabin. By means of the method for controlling a light display device that is provided in the present application, the driving and riding experience of users can be improved at a light interaction level.
