Abstract:
A power converter (1) supplies output current or voltage to a switched reluctance motor (2) that detects at least one of the quantities (of magnetic flux, voltage or current) to be supplied to a reference signal generator (3). A phase/amplitude correction section (4) receives at least one of the quantities (current, voltage, speed and torque) from the switched reluctance motor (2) and checks for a decrease in torque or efficiency to provide a corrective signal for correction of phase or amplitude. A waveform control section (5) receives an external speed or torque command, the reference signal and the corrective signal to control waveforms and supplies a waveform control signal to the power converter (1). Reliable control of a switched reluctance motor is thus achieved without use of a position detector on the rotor of the motor while taking full advantage of the switched reluctance motor being inexpensive.
