Abstract:
A method and an apparatus, by which a cooling time for a heating furnace is surely and adequately shortened irrespective of the seasons and without damage to refractory materials in the furnace, and which can also accommodate ceramic fiber furnaces. The method for cooling a heating furnace (2) during suspension of the furnace comprises inserting a plurality of lances (5) positioned at predetermined intervals in a widthwise direction of an extraction port (2a) of the heating furnace (2) into the heating furnace (2) through the extraction port (2a), and causing spray nozzles (40) provided on the lances (5) to spray a misty cooling liquid toward scales (S) deposited in a soaking zone (A). Further, a cooling fan (22) forcibly supplies a cooling air into the heating furnace (2).
