Abstract:
Provided are a method and apparatus for decoding an RS code. In the present application, the method comprises: determining a syndrome according to a codeword to be decoded, wherein the codeword is a codeword of an RS code (S301); according to the syndrome, determining an error position polynomial, and the minimum length satisfying a key equation (S302); if the minimum length satisfying the key equation is greater than the maximum error correction capability of the RS code (S303), detecting an uncorrectable error, and abandoning decoding the codeword, otherwise, determining an error position according to the error position polynomial; and if the number of determined error positions is not equal to the minimum length satisfying the key equation (S305), detecting the uncorrectable error, and abandoning decoding the codeword, otherwise, performing error correction on the codeword according to the error positions, so as to obtain a decoding result of the codeword (S307). By using the present application, an uncorrectable error can be detected, thereby improving the system performance and reliability.
