Abstract:
A method and apparatus for determining the cyclic prefix (CP) length, for use in solving the problem in the prior art of low spectrum utilization rate of a system caused by use of a normal CP and an extended CP. The method comprises: a first device receives a reference signal sent by a second device and determines channel quality information on the basis of the reference signal; the first device determines the CP length corresponding to the channel quality information according to the corresponding relation between the stored multiple pieces of channel quality information and the length of multiple CPs, the CP length being less than the normal CP length; the first device sends the CP length to the second device. In this way, the appropriate CP length can be selected according to channel quality information, and the selected CP length is less than the normal CP length in the prior art. Compared with the prior art, the useless data in the transmission process becomes less, thereby improving the spectrum utilization rate of a system.
