Abstract:

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for a direct conversion receiver correcting a direct current (DC) offset. The DC offset correction apparatus of the direct conversion receiver comprises: a plurality of variable-gain amplifiers for amplifying an input signal based on a gain control value; a DC offset measuring device for measuring a DC offset of output signals of the plurality of variable-gain amplifiers; a plurality of variable digital to analogue converters (DAC) for controlling currents that are respectively applied to the plurality of variable-gain amplifiers according to a current control code; and a DC offset remover for determining a current control code set that minimises the DC offset value for each pre-set gain control value, wherein the DC offset correction apparatus of the direct conversion receiver is not affected by external factors such as a signal modulation scheme or heat, can precisely remove a DC offset and prevent performance deterioration of the receiver.
