Abstract:
Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for encoding images and a method and an apparatus for decoding images. The method for encoding images comprises: dividing the current picture into maximum encoding units; encoding image data of the maximum encoding units on the basis of encoding units for each depth to determine the dividing form of the maximum encoding units and the prediction mode and partition for each of the divided encoding units; setting, for each of the encoding units, dividing information, skip mode information and dividing information containing whether or not the encoding units of the upper level depth, including each of the encoding units, are divided; and encoding the dividing information and the skip information set for each of the encoding units.
