Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate, i.e., a connected mode DRX (discontinuous reception) enhancement, and handling a timer for an SDT (small data transmission) procedure in a wireless communication system. The system is characterized by identifying whether offset information is included in DCP (DCI with CRC scrambled by a PS-RNTI) and starting a DRX on-duration timer from the offset information from an end of a slot in which the DCP was received in case that the offset information is included in the DCP, wherein the DCP includes an indication to start the DRX on-duration timer.
