Abstract:
Disclosed are a simple method and apparatus for accurately estimating the shape of a tyre contact patch during travel. A rotational order spectrum is obtained by performing rotational order analysis using an acceleration sensor mounted on a knuckle in order to detect the oscillatory waveform of a tyre (20) on which are formed sipe rows (25A, 25B) which are arranged at periods (Pa, Pb) on left and right shoulder lands (24a, 24b), and the peak height (Za) of rotational order (na) corresponding to the period (Pa) and the peak height (Zb) of rotational order (nb) corresponding to the period (Pb) are extracted. The peak height (Za) and threshold (Ka) and the peak height (Zb) and threshold (Kb) are compared, and an estimation is made as to whether or not the shape of the tyre contact patch is longer than the contact patch length (La) of a tyre contact patch shape (Fa) established at the usage limit using reduced internal pressure or increased load. An estimation is also made as to whether or not the shape of the tyre contact patch is shorter than the contact patch length (Lb) of a tyre contact patch shape (Fb) established at the usage limit using increased internal pressure or reduced load.
