Title:
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IDENTIFYING RAINDROPS ON A WINDSHIELD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/084521
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A vehicle vision system is used to detect raindrops on a windshield. A raindrop candidate on a windshield is usually represented with an optical model as a convex lens formed from a section of a sphere. Said optical model is used to reconstruct the image of each raindrop from the scene in front of the vehicle viewed through the windshield. If there is significant correlation between the actual image of the raindrop candidate and the reconstructed raindrop image, the raindrop candidate is identified as an actual raindrop. The identification result can be used to start wipers or other apparatuses.
