Abstract:
A method for image decoding carried out by a decoding apparatus according to the present invention comprises the steps of: parsing a first flag which indicates whether the prediction mode carried out in the current block is an inter-merge-prediction mode; parsing a second flag for the current block if the value of the first flag is 0; deriving, on the basis of the second flag, one from among the intra-prediction mode and inter-prediction MVP mode as the prediction mode carried out in the current block; and generating a prediction sample of the current block on the basis of the derived prediction mode. According to the present invention, a merge flag of the current block can be parsed prior to a prediction mode flag, thereby reducing the number of bits generated when a merge mode is carried out in the current block, and thus allowing the overall coding efficiency to be improved.
