A method and apparatus for implementing the photographing effect of a distorting mirror by an electronic device. The method comprises: running a shooting mode of an electronic device; acquiring each frame of image data which is framed in real time by a camera module of the electronic device, processing each frame of image data in real time according to a pre-set distorting mirror algorithm, and displaying the processed image data in a shooting preview interface of the electronic device; receiving a photographing instruction; and acquiring the image data collected by the camera module, processing the collected image data according to the pre-set distorting mirror algorithm, and generating a compression encoded picture according to the processed image data. According to the embodiments of the present invention, when photographing is performed, a distorting mirror effect can be directly presented in the shooting preview interface and a formed picture, which is visual and efficient; many kinds of distorting mirror deformation effects are integrated, which is convenient for a user to freely make a selection; and it can be ensured to the greatest extent that there is no loss of picture pixels and preview fluency, so that the user experience is greatly improved.
