Abstract:

The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. If a terminal in an idle state camps in a suitable cell, the terminal performs interworking between a mobile communication network and a wireless LAN by applying a network interworking parameter received from a base station. If the terminal is in a state of not camping in the suitable cell due to a temporal movement to be out of an area of the base station, the terminal does not use a function of interworking between the mobile communication network and the wireless LAN. Further, if the terminal does not use the interworking function, the terminal stores the previously received network interworking parameter, and if the terminal camps in the suitable cell again and the cell satisfies a predetermined condition, the terminal re-uses the corresponding information, thereby preventing the terminal from unnecessarily re-receiving a parameter.
