Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for manufacturing an electrode for a secondary battery. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method and apparatus for manufacturing an electrode for a secondary battery, capable of more firmly bonding an active material to a thin metal sheet and reducing manufacturing costs. The method for manufacturing an electrode for a secondary battery according to the present invention comprises: an active material application step of applying an active material layer onto one side of the thin metal sheet; and a drying step of drying the active material layer. The drying step involves directly heating the thin metal sheet such that the active material layer can be dried from the surface thereof contacting the thin metal sheet up to the upper surface thereof, and bubbles can be discharged to the outer surface of the active material layer. According to the present invention, the thin metal sheet of the electrode for a secondary battery is directly heated such that the inside of the active material layer applied on the thin metal sheet and contacting the thin metal sheet is dried first and the drying can progress up to the outer surface of the active material layer. Thus, bubbles can be uniformly formed in the active material layer, and the contact area between the active material layer and the thin metal sheet increases so as to achieve excellent bonding strength. Therefore, a smaller amount of bonding agent can be used in manufacturing an electrode, and thus an electrode for a secondary battery having excellent electrical conductivity can be manufactured.
