Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for microfilming, especially for adding new data to previously microfilmed registers. In said method the old data are photographed from the screen (4) of a microfilm reading device (3) and the new data are subsequently photographed on the same film. The new data can be photographed either from said screen or from paper in a way known per se. An apparatus for carrying out said method is constructed so that a microfilm reading device (3) is placed on a photographing table whereby the screen (4) in said device is perpendicular to the photographing direction of a camera (1). Said screen forms also a photographing base for paper documents.

Claims :
1. A method for microfilming, especially for adding new data to previously.microfilmed registers, c h a r a c t e r i in that the old data are photographed from the screen (4) of a microfilm reading device (3) and the new data are subsequently photographed on the same film.
2. A method as claimed in claim 1, c h a r a c t e r i in that the new data are photographed from said screen (4) of said microfilm reading device (3) or from paper in a way known per se.
3. An apparatus for microfilming for carrying cut the method as claimed in claim 1 and 2, comprising a camera (1) an a photographing table (2), c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that a microfilm reading device (3) is placed on said photographing table (2) so that the screen (4) in said readin device is • perpendicular to the photographing direction of said camera an at the same time, forms a photographing base.
Description:
Method and apparatus for microfilming

The present invention relates to a method for microfilming, especially for adding new data to previously microfilmed registers and an apparatus for carrying out said- method. . '

A number of such methods are previously known; In one of the known methods the additions are always photographed at the end of an old card file or register. The biggest disadvantage in this method is that data related to the same case are located in several different locations which makes the application- of the method cumbersome.

In a second known method the total case to which the changes refer is entirely rephotographed, which eliminates the disadvantage associated with the above-mentioned. methocLand, accordingly, the data are all in one and the same location. The disadvantage in this method is that the original documents must be stored for a possible

Tεphotographing.

A third known method uses a so-called pocket card, the use of which makes it possible to. have the data in the same location. It suffers from the drawback that space must be provided before ¬ hand in the card for additions, whereby the number of cards increases and it is, moreover, difficult to place the additions in the pockets.

A fourth known method uses a so-called electrostatic card making it possible to phαtograph--additions- later on the same card. The disadvantage associated with this method is the provision of spacB as in the connection with the pocket card, which increases - the number of cards.

The object of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages and to provide a more practical method and apparatus for microfilming.

The basic idea of the invention is to use in photographing of old data, instead of the original documents, an enlarged picture of the original document which picture is reflected from the microfilm.

The method according to the invention is mainly characterized in that the old data are photographed from the .screen of a microfilm reading device and the new data are

subsequently photographed on the same film.

The apparatus applying the method according to the inv is mainly characterized in that a microfilm reading device is positioned απ the photographing table so that the screen in s reading device is perpendicular to the photographing directio the camera and, at the same time, forms a photographing base.

One of the advantages achievable by means of the inven is a substantial reduction in " the storage costs of documents because the original documents need not be stored. Complement photographing from a film is, moreover, easier and quicker to out than from paper because there is no need to search out th documents.

The invention also permits changes in the system owing which the film type, reduction ratio, the number of rows ' and columns of the pictures photographed on the film are easily changeable. One of the facts making " this possible is the adjustability of both the camera and the reading device.

One of the advantages of -the invention is also the possibility of automatization, -especially when photographing data/ - " ■

A further advantage of the invention is the flexibilit and variability in operation because the addition ' s can be eit in paper form or photographed en a film.

The invention will be described by means of the follow drawings which illustrate one .embodiment of the method accord to- the invention.

In the Figures, reference numeral 1 denotes a camera a reference numeral 2 a photographing table. A microfilm readin device 3 is positioned in the photographing table so that the screen 4 of the reading device is perpendicular to the photo¬ graphing direction of the camera and, at the same time, forms photographing base far paper documents. When photographing pa

documents, a displaceable cover 5 for the screen can also conveniently be used so that said cover is moved onto the screen as a photographing base whereby the screen 4 will not become scratched and, in addition, a background of the desired colour will b.e obtained.

The film holder 6 of the reading device 3 can be arranged, for example, at the edge of the table so that the film, lies in a plane parallel to the table surface which makes the positioning of the film easy. The reflection of a picture frcm the.film to the panel takes place by means of mirror arrangements of the reading device 3 (not shown).

Thus, photographing is carried out, for example, so that previously microfilmed old data are. photographed from the screen 4 and the additions subsequently by means of the same device from paper documents while using the screen -4 and the cover 5 dis¬ placeable on top of it as photographing base. The. additions to be photographed can, of course, also be in microfilmed form.

The. applicability of the above-mentioned microfilming apparatus can also be improved in many.. ays. Means for automatic shifting of the microfilm being photographec and-. for εxposuriπg can be arranged in the reading device 3 and the camera 1. This can be accomplished by means of providing the reading device with programming means in which case the device, for example, wh-en ' photographing old data, automatically performs the required shiftings of-the film -and the-photographing.

To the above-mentioned automatic means are also connected measuring means which can be arranged to measure the darkness of the microfilm being photographed and to correspondingly adjust the light intensity of the reading device.
