Title:
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREDICTING PROTEIN FUNCTION SITE, METHOD FOR IMPROVING PROTEIN FUNCTION, AND FUNCTION-IMPROVED PROTEIN
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1998/033900
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A method for predicting the function site of an arbitrary protein from among total proteins of a biological species with known genomic data or cDNA analytical data, which comprises calculating the frequency of occurrence of oligopeptides constituting the function site of the above protein from the amino acid sequence of the protein, calculating the value of amino acid residues contributing to the occurrence frequency as a value representing the function, and predicting the protein function site by using this representative value as an indication; a function site predicting apparatus for automatically performing the above procedure; a method for constructing a function-improved protein by artificially mutating amino acid residues constituting the function site specified by the above method; and a novel thermostable DNA synthetase obtained by this method.
