Abstract:
A starting material gas containing methane and water vapor is introduced into heat storage chambers (3, 4) in which the exhaust gas remains. Since the methane and water vapor in the starting material gas are mixed in advance in gas mixing chambers (9a, 9b), the methane concentration in the starting material gas is made uniform before introduction into the heat storage chambers (3, 4). The starting material gas is reformed in the heat storage chambers (3, 4) and combusted in a melting bath (1) by reacting with oxygen or air, thereby producing a molten glass (10) in the melting bath (1). The heat storage chambers (3, 4) alternately perform a function of introducing the starting material gas, while heating and reforming the starting material gas and a function of collecting heat from the exhaust gas.
