Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for profile electrical discharge machining. In the method for removing a material having a dimension (d) and a removal area (S) from a work, the volume (V) of the material to be removed is obtained based on the dimension (d) and the removal area (S), machining conditions are set and a volume removal rate (Vm) corresponding to the set machining conditions is obtained, and a machining time (T) is set based on the removal volume (V) and the volume removal rate (Vm). Electrical discharge machining is performed under the set machining conditions to remove the material from the work. When the working time (T) is passed after the start of the electrical discharge machining, the electrical discharge machining is completed.
