Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for performing authentication by an electronic device. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the electronic device may receive an access request to an application, obtain any one of public helper data and private helper data used for user authentication, on the basis of the application requested to be accessed, obtain an encryption key from biometric information of a user received according to the access request, by using a fuzzy extractor, on the basis of the public helper data or private helper data, and perform user authentication for an access to the application, on the basis of the obtained encryption key.
