Abstract:
Disclosed are a method and apparatus for reporting user equipment capability information. The method comprises: a UE obtaining UE capability information about itself; determining whether the size of the UE capability information exceeds the maximum tolerance that a PDCP layer of the UE can process; if so, dividing the UE capability information into at least two parts of UE capability information, with each divided part of the UE capability information not exceeding the maximum tolerance that the PDCP layer can process; and reporting at least one divided part of the UE capability information to a network side. In this method, by means of determining the size of UE capability information and dividing the UE capability information at a UE side, and by successively reporting the divided UE capability information to a network side, an error, caused by the UE capability information exceeding the maximum tolerance that a PDCP layer can process, is avoided, thereby guaranteeing the normal operation of a UE capability information reporting process.
