Mode for the Invention
[32] The invention is described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. Rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure is thorough, and will fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art. In the drawings, the size and relative sizes of layers and regions may be exaggerated for clarity. Like reference numerals in the drawings denote like elements.
[33] Fig. 3 shows an apparatus for providing a network search service using a search event according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention. The apparatus is provided in a network in which the search server 110 is present as shown in Fig. 1, and is installed in the user terminal 120. The apparatus may be either hardware or software.
[34] The apparatus includes a search event check unit 310, a search window providing unit 320, a search word transmission unit 330, a search result receiving unit 340, and an output unit 350.
[35] A user generates a search event to receive the search service using the user terminal
120. The search event may be generated by double-clicking a mouse button, or pushing keyboard buttons, such as 'Alt+Enter', 'Shift+Enter', 'Alt+Space-bar', or 'Alt+Function-keys (Fl to F12)'. The search event check unit 310 checks whether or not the user generates a search event, for example, by hooking a message of an input unit, such as the mouse or keyboard of the user terminal.
[36] When the search event check unit 310 checks that the search event is generated, the search window providing unit 320 provides a search window to a display (not shown) of the user terminal. The search window is, but not limited to, a web browser.
[37] When the user inputs a search word on the search window, the search transmission unit 330 transmits the search word to the search server 110 through the network. When the search server 110 conducts a search and transmits a search result to the search result receiving unit 340, the output unit 350 outputs the search result to the display of the user terminal 120. The search result may be provided either to a new web browser or to the browser on which the user generate the search event.
[38] The apparatus for providing a network search service may be provided in which the user selects a search word using an input unit, such as the mouse or keyboard, the search event check unit 310 checks whether or not a search event occurs, the search transmission unit 330 automatically transmits the search word to the search server 110, the search result receiving unit 340 receives a search result, and the output unit 350 outputs the search result.
[39] When the user needs to use the network search service on a search site provided by the search server 110, the search site generates a search event, and the search event check unit 310 checks the search event. When the search window providing unit 320 is connected to the search site, the search window providing unit 320 may provide a new search window. The search window providing unit 320 may further include a placement unit (not shown), which moves a mouse cursor from a page of the current search site to a search window so that the user can conduct a search.
[40] Fig. 4 is a flow chart of a method for providing a network search service using a search event according to a first embodiment of the present invention.
[41] According to the method for providing a network search service, when the user needs to use the network search service through the network, the user generates a search event using an input unit, such as mouse or keyboard, and the search event check unit 310 checks that the search event is generated, for example, by hooking a message of the input unit (S401).
[42] When the search window providing unit 320 provides a search window (S403), the user inputs a search word on the search window (S405). The search word transmission unit 330 transmits the search word to the search server 110 through the network (S407).
[43] The search server 110 searches the search word and transmits a search result to the search result receiving unit 340 (S409). The output unit 350 outputs the search result to a display (not shown) of the user terminal 120 so that the user can view the search result (S411).
[44] At the step S403, the search window providing unit 320 may provide a new search
window. In the event that the user is connected to a search site provided by the search server 110, the search window providing unit 320 may further include a placement unit, which puts a cursor on a search window of the search site so that the user can directly input the search word.
[45] Fig. 5 is a flow chart of a method for providing a network search service using a search event according to a second embodiment of the present invention, in which a user selects a search word using an input unit to generate a search event.
[46] According to the method for providing a network search service, a search word is selected using an input unit, such as mouse or keyboard, of the user terminal 120 to generate a search event (S501), and the search event check unit 310 checks whether or not the search event is generated, for example, by hooking a message of the input unit (S503).
[47] The search word transmission unit 330 transmits the selected search word to the search server 110 through the network (S505).
[48] The search server 110 searches the search word, and transmits a search result to the search result receiving unit 340 (S507). The output unit 350 outputs the search result to the display (not shown) of the user terminal 120 so that the user can view the search result (S509).
[49] Conventionally, the user conducts a search by ® executing a web browser, © inputting a search site on an address window of a web browser, © moving a search site, ® putting a mouse cursor on the search window, © inputting a search word, and © checking a search result. However, according to the present embodiment of the invention, the user can conveniently conduct a search through a network either by ® generating a search event, © inputting a search word, and © checking a search result, or by ® selecting a search word, © generating a search event, and © checking a search result.
[50] The above-mentioned method for providing a network search service may be stored as a program in recording media, such as CD-ROM, RAM, ROM, floppy disk, hard disk, and magneto-optical disk, which are computer-readable.
[51] It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variation can be made in the present invention without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention. Thus, it is intended that the present invention cover the modifications and variations of this invention provided they come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents. Industrial Applicability
[52] According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a user with a convenient search service by remarkably simplifying the steps of providing search service.
