Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for transferring and placing objects, by which a sheet type or plate type object is carried into a position to which the object is to be transferred, in and from which position the object is to be then set and carried out. An extensible transfer means extended onto the mentioned position is brought into contact with the lower surface of the object, or a transfer means adapted to hold the object at both side edges thereof is moved laterally above the position. A retractable lift-support member projecting from the surface of the place in which the object is placed is abutted against the lower surface of the object so as to support the same, and the lift-support member is then moved vertically to thereby transfer the object to and from the surface of the mentioned place. The plate type object can be transferred to and placed in a predetermined position efficiently without suffering surface staining, surface damage or adhesion of extraneous matter on the same.
