Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of communications, and to a method and an apparatus for transmitting a file difference, for use in resolving the technical problem that a client needs to send an uploading request for each part of difference data to a server. The method comprises: a client determines N pieces of difference data and L matching blocks, compared with a first file, in a second file; combine the N pieces of difference data into M difference blocks, M being a positive integer less than N; and send attribute information of the M difference blocks and the L matching blocks to the server, the attribute information of the L matching blocks being used for combining the M difference blocks and a data block consistent with each matching block in the first file into the second file. Embodiments of the present invention are used for transmitting difference data.
