Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/101795
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A method of artificial intervention in the natural climate of a selected area in order to prevent the phenomenon of fog, for example in airports or highways. Based on this method fans are mounted in clusters, all along the area that is desired to prevent creation of fog. Each fan has a motor (n.60) installed on top of the tower (20) connected with an angular gear (n.40) through a flexible coupling (70) and supplied with voltage from the control panel (80) through electrical conductor (n.30). Also, the propeller (n.10) is connected to the gear shaft (40) with floating cylindrical hub (11) so that the depreciation of the oscillations produced, can be possible. These fans, mounted in clusters, are connected to a computer unit, equipped with the appropriate software, processing the climatic parameters and when it notes their convergence leads to the appearance of fog, it activates the cluster of fans thus directed to the area the fog is not desirable, it increases the temperature of the atmosphere, by varying climatic data that would lead to the creation of fog.

Description:
METHOD OF ARTIFICIAL INTERVENTION IN NATURAL ENVIRONMENT OF AN AREA IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE PHENOMENON OF FOG.

Field of the invention

The present invention relates to a method of artificial intervention in the natural environment of an area, in order to prevent the phenomenon of fog, which can be applied at selected locations, such as airports, highways, etc.. Main characteristic of the method is that fans are mounted in clusters, in order to create wind to repel the fog, which are connected to computers, processing via software the climatic parameters and activating the fans when climatic conditions that favor the formation of fog are detected.

Description of the related art

Up todate no technological application in order to prevent fog has been reported. In particular, in the recent decades the progress of science led to a finest understanding of the way natural phenomena are functioning and several ways of dealing with natural phenomena were invented, such as in the field of agriculture the installation of anti-frost wind machines. Also in order to deal with the hail Anti-hail networks and cannons were invented and in order to deal with rainfall the shellfire of clouds with silver iodide etc.

Instead no technological application in order to prevent fog has been reported till now, except from one attempt at De Gaulle airport in Paris, where a system repeling fog was installed, where large holes were drilled in the ground and then vertical axis fans were placed, on the ground that they would use the heat pumped from the ground to repel the fog. However, this system was abandoned, because the results achived, were not as satisfactory as expected.

According to the view of meteorologists globally, the phenomenon of fog occurs when the visibility is less than a hundred meters. There are two basic types of fog, the type of radiation and the type of transfer. In both occasions, the main cause is the condensation on the lower layers of the atmosphere, due to negative composition of temperature and humidity in the atmosphere and ground. This effect is amplified when the ground is flat, surrounded by hills and there is stillness in the atmosphere. However, the phenomenon of fog doesn't appear, in case the wind speed is at least 2m/sec.

Summary of the invention

Based on the above, my invention interposes in the climate conformation of the selected area, preventing the creation of the phenomenon of fog by fans, which create artificial wind while increasing the temperature of the atmosphere in the space they impact. In order to apply the method into runways or highways, large dimension are installed in series, which operate alternately with electric motors or internal combustion engines. These fans are connected to a computer unit, equipped with the appropriate software, processing the climatic parameters andr¾ hen it notes their convergence leads to the appearance of fog, it activates the cluster of fans thus interfering in the climate conformation, via producing artificial windy, directed to the area that fog is not desired. ·

Brief description of the drawings

The technical characteristics c^f the present invention will be comprehensive to those skilled in the art, with reference to the accompanying drawings of the present specification, which show industrial preferred embodiments of the present invention. In particular:

Figure 1 shows the fan used to produce wind.

Figure 2 shows an alternative fan where the complex and reducer is mounted on semi-horizontal position at the top of the tower.

Figure 3 shows an alternative fan, operating with an internal combustion engine.

Figure 4 shows a detail of the fan propeller.

Description of the preferred embodiments

Referring to a preffered indicative embodiment of the invention, I proceed to a counting of its main parts of, with reference to the corresponding numbering of these parts in the accompanying drawings, in an indicated descriptive display, without scale but only in proportion to the sizes of parts .

The fan used for the creation of artificial wind, preferably driven by electric motor, has a tubular tower (20) mounted on a base of reinforced concrete, and the engine (60) is installed at the top of the tower and it is connected with an angular gear (n.40) through flexible coupling (n.70). The motor is supplied with voltage from the control panel (80) through electrical conductor (n.30). During the motor operation, the propeller (10) rotates at a speed of 650 revolutions per minute, carrying 12.000 cubic meters per minute and at a distance of about 250 meters. The propeller (10) connected to the gear shaft (40) with floating cylindrical hub (11) so that the depreciation of the oscillations produced, can be possible (see. Fig. 4). Furthermore, the connection of the flaps (10') of the propeller (10) in the hub (1 1) is effected by bolts through the flange (13) having oval holes (13) in order to allow selection of a different pitch, depending on the available power , which is accomplished by varying the position of the bolts relative to the axis of rotation and the angle of incidence of the blade (10). For adjusting the position of the bolts, there is a relative calibration (14) onto the fixed flange (12) of the hub (11). The flaps (10') of the propeller ( 0) are connected to the hub with the links (15) which terminate in the flange (13) which is in contact with the corresponding flange (12) at each end of the hub (11 ).

Alternatively, the complex motor (n.60) and reducer (n.40) may be placed in semi-horizontal position on top of the tower (20), with possibility of adjusting the angle (70) compared to the vertical (see. Figure 2) in order to direct the wind to the desired height (lower or higher), or in horizontal, adjustable position, coaxially, with simple gearing reducer (40), at whose output rests the propeller (10).

Also alternatively, the fan operates with an internal combustion engine (100) which is installed in a horizontal position on the ground (see. Figure 3). In this case an angular gear unit (n.40) is used, located at the bottom of the tower (20), the torque of which is transferred to the gear (40), on top of the tower (20) via an articulated axis (n.90) held from bases (95) into the tower (20).
