Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of finding a microRNA that strongly relates to the stabilization of NRF2 in a tumor and providing a means of utilizing the same in diagnosing and treating cancer. As the results of a screening of 470 kinds of microRNAs in a microRNA library with the use of HeLa cells, 8 kinds of microRNAs, each showing a large decrease in the activity compared with a control, and 8 kinds of microRNAs, each showing a large increase in the activity, were specified. It was discovered that, by using the microRNAs thus specified, the activation of NRF2 in a living body, in particular a tumor cell, can be detected and thus the malignancy, etc. of a tumor can be distinguished. Also, it was discovered that a nucleic acid containing a microRNA sequence relating to a decrease in the ARE activity as described above is usable as a cancer therapeutic agent.
