Abstract:

A method for assembling a rolling bearing device uses a highly versatile retainer (25). By the use of the retainer, a retainer ring (40) for preventing falling off of first-row conical rollers (18a) is fitted inward in the diameter direction of the conical rollers (18a) in a sub-assembly member (20). After that, a hub body (16) and an outer ring (13) to which a first seal ring (15) and the sub-assembly member (20) are assembled are combined while the retainer ring (40) being pushed out by a step portion provided between a small-diameter cylinderical surface portion (30) of the hub body (16) and a first inner ring raceway (28).
