Abstract:
A method of assembling steering columns. This assembling method comprises the steps of forming a cylindrical column jacket (3), forming a distance bracket (4) with a pair of joining projections (4a, 4b) having inner surfaces (4c, 4d) conforming to the outer surface (3a) of the column jacket (3), temporally fitting the projections (4a, 4b) of the distance bracket (4) to the outer surface (3a) of the column jacket (3), and crimping the projections (4a, 4b) into the outer surface (3a) of the column jacket (3).
