Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of breaking up pig iron in a blast furnace, whereby tasks associated with breaking up pig iron can be carried out more efficiently by rationalizing the handling of refractory bricks. Specifically disclosed is a method of breaking up pig iron in a blast furnace in order to explosively break up pig iron (5) surrounded by refractory bricks (4) on the interior of a blast furnace shell (3), wherein the refractory bricks are removed to form a space (S) in which the surface of the pig iron facing the blast furnace shell is exposed, vertically-oriented blast holes (7) are drilled at appropriate positions in the pig iron so that the pulverized pig iron will collapse into the space, and the pig iron is blasted by means of explosives filled into the blast holes.
