Abstract:
The present invention relates to calculating a shipping index, and more specifically, relates to a method for calculating a shipping index capable of allowing the domestic shipping industry to flexibly respond to changes in global shipping market conditions and forecasting future market conditions to improve global competitiveness, and to a method for providing shipping information brokerage service using the method. The present invention provides the method for calculating the shipping index comprising the steps of: collecting shipping data according to vessel type and service line (S110); assessing a weighted value for each detailed service line (annual average weekly shipping price) for specific vessel types (S130); determining the weighted value for each vessel type (weight value for each service line within vessel type) for calculating a composite shipping index (S150); assessing a weekly shipping price change rate (rj,w) (S170) for each of the service lines; calculating an index for each of the service lines using data on the weekly shipping price change rate for each of the service lines (S190); calculating a composite index for each vessel type by applying the weight value for each vessel type (weight value for each service line within vessel type)(S210); and calculating the shipping index by applying the weighted value for each vessel type (weight value for each service line within vessel type) to the composite index for each vessel type (S230).
