Abstract:
A method by which IGSCC only can be easily generated and grown, at the atmospheric pressure in a short time, in a sample retaining corrosion resistance imparted by passivation. It comprises bringing the sample retaining corrosion resistance imparted by passivation into contact with an aqueous potassium tetrathionate solution having a concentration of 0.3 to 6 wt.%, temperature of 5 to 60°C, and pH of 3 to 6.
