Abstract:
A method for checking water quality, the method being carried out by a water quality checking device (100) which checks the quality of water that flows through a heat exchanger. In a first step, the concentration of calcium ions, concentration of carbonate ions, and concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution, the water temperature thereof, and the concentration therein of dissolved ions which react with calcium ions to form a sparingly soluble salt are measured. In a second step, the measured values of calcium ion concentration, carbonate ion concentration, hydrogen ion concentration, and water temperature are used to calculate the supersaturation coefficient of calcium carbonate in the solution. In a third step, the measured value of the concentration of dissolved ions which react with calcium ions to form a sparingly soluble salt is used to calculate a corrected supersaturation coefficient from the supersaturation coefficient. In a fourth step, the water quality is determined from the corrected supersaturation coefficient calculated.
