Abstract:
Provided is a method for cleaning a membrane cartridge for ballast water treatment, which makes it is possible to rapidly and efficiently remove a substance (microorganism) which has adhered to the surface of the membrane cartridge for ballast water treatment. A method for filtering ballast water by supplying the ballast water to the membrane cartridge (3) provided with a spiral membrane module, wherein filtering is halted, a cleaning solution including a gas generating chemical is filled in the membrane cartridge (3), and the inside of the membrane cartridge (3) is closed off; when the membrane module is immersed in the cleaning solution, the pressure inside of the membrane cartridge (3) is increased by means of gas generated from the chemical, the chemical is infiltrated between the membrane surface and the substance adhered to the membrane surface, and the adhered substance is separated from the membrane surface.
