A coating method is provided in which an even coating film can be formed on an instrument having a complicated shape by sufficiently removing the excess fluid using a simple configuration. The method for coating an instrument comprises a cleaning step in which the instrument is immersed in a detergent, a rinsing step in which the instrument is immersed in a rinse, a coating step in which a coating fluid comprising an aqueous medium and hydrophobic resin particles dispersed therein is applied to the instrument, a gas blowing step in which a gas is blown against given areas of the instrument from gas ejection ports disposed in at least two directions above and below the instrument coated with the coating fluid, while making the gas streams from the two directions hit against each other, and a drying step in which the coating fluid is dried.
