Abstract:
Provided is a method for controlling an air brake device for efficiently decelerating a vehicle without imparting an adverse effect on driving comfort or the vehicle. The method for a controlling an air brake device (550) comprises: air brake plates (301 to 308) which are provided in a railway vehicle (100) and are disposed in front of the center portions of vehicles (201 to 208) in the direction (H1) of travel of the railway vehicle (100); driving units (501 to 508) and a brake control device (500) which control the forward motion of the air brake plates (301 to 308); and a speedometer (560) which detects the speed of the railway vehicle (100). The air brake device (550) controls the forward motion of the air brake plates (301 to 308) according to the speed of the railway vehicle (100) detected using the speedometer (560).
