Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for controlling an automatic gearbox having a plurality of transmission stages and pertaining to a motor vehicle driven by a drive engine, the shift from one transmission stage to another transmission stage being carried out according to the position of a power regulator and the actual speed of the vehicle. Two selectable successive transmission stages are associated with every possible driving speed inside a pre-determined speed range (A, B, C, D, E), and if the driving speed is inside the pre-determined speed range, the transmission stage with the highest transmission ratio is selected in a phase with a low power demand on the power regulator, and the transmission stage with the lowest transmission ratio is selected in a second phase with a higher power demand. This applies to at least one shifting direction (HSxy, RSxy) of the transmission stages, the ranges for upshifting (HSxy) and downshifting (RSxy) partially overlapping.
