Abstract:
If, in order for the degree of opening of a flow-strengthening valve to have an effect not only on flow but also on flow rate, when the degree of opening of the flow-strengthening valve changes transiently, ignition correction control is performed on the basis of a relationship, which is obtained during stationary driving, between ignition timing and the degree of opening of the flow-strengthening valve, the problem arises of ignition timing being set at the delayed side or advanced side of the optimal point. In this device for controlling an internal combustion engine provided with a flow-strengthening valve: the amount of air intake that flows into a cylinder is computed on the basis of the operation state of the flow-strengthening valve, a rotational velocity, and the amount of air intake detected by an airflow sensor; an in-cylinder turbulence intensity benchmark is computed on the basis of the operation state of the flow-strengthening valve, the amount of air intake flowing into the cylinder, and the rotational velocity; and the ignition timing is computed on the basis of the turbulence intensity benchmark, the amount of air intake flowing into the cylinder, and the rotational velocity.
