Abstract:
An internal combustion engine (1) automatically shuts off through halting of fuel injection when an automatic shut-off condition is met. When there is a restart request while the engine rotation speed is reduced as a result of an automatic shut-off, the internal combustion engine (1) is started up through resuming of fuel injection if the engine rotation speed is equal to or greater than a combustion recoverable rotation speed threshold (R1) at which the engine rotation speed can be increased again simply by fuel injection, and, if the engine rotation speed is less than the combustion recoverable rotation speed threshold (R1), the internal combustion engine (1) is started up by means of a starter motor (2). When there is a restart request while a brake is being applied, the internal combustion engine (1) is started up by being rotated by the starter motor (2) instead of a start up through resuming of fuel injection.
